Many brides look to honor the incredible women who have come before them during the wedding day. In the past, it was common to have a bride wear their mother’s wedding dress, veil, or other personal detail. While the trend of wearing your mother’s wedding dress has decreased in popularity, brides are coming up with new and unique ways to include those they love in their wedding day look.

One Maggie Louise bride found a unique and memorable way to include her mother’s wedding dress in her special day. The bride worked with The Garter Girl to refashion a lace sleeve from the original wedding gown into a new keepsake, a lace garter.

The beautiful garter was accented with a blue satin bow for the perfect touch of “something blue”. This lovely garter will be cherished for years to come and will make for a sentimental wedding day detail. The Garter Girl also fashioned a handkerchief from the wedding dress as a surprise gift for the mother of the bride.
